The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at +2 level working for a campus-community linkage.
SNGIST ASC has a unit of NSS which includes NSS Programme Officer and pool of students. Every year NSS unit appoints 50 new talented, committed students to the unit. Through a process of test and interviews students are selected to the unit. According to the protocols, NSS unit is conducting 7 days camp every year which is intended to provide some social values to the students. The camp includes various seminars by professionals from various areas and cultural activities which motivates the students to work for the society. Apart from these, the students are committed to complete some task which is beneficial for the society. The local heads, people, university and the college authorities together support for the efficient and smooth running of the unit.
